What is your current role and tell us about your career to date with Cineworld?
I am a General Manager at Cineworld in York. I began with the company in 2005 when I was a student coming back and working the holidays. I loved every minute of the job at Cineworld and saw the opportunity to progress and develop when I finished my degree.
I moved up to Supervisor (now Team Leader) and quickly pushed on to Cinema Manager. Moving around the regions cinemas to experience busier sites I met new people and developed my skills always with an ambition to move higher.
I successfully obtained a position on our first Leadership Academy where Cineworld supported me to achieve a Level 5 qualification in Leadership and Management.
This led to promotion to DGM to GM at the newly opened St Neots in 2014. We were the first site to open after our merger with Cinema City International and I had the pleasure of meeting our CEO for our gala.
Since then I have moved around the country to bigger cinemas in Dalton Park then on to Bradford and most recently I opened the new 13 screen cinema in York.
What do you enjoy the most about for working for Cineworld?
I learnt quickly that my passion is in developing and supporting people to achieve their goals. Cineworld has given me the support and training to achieve this and I am proud to have developed a number of staff to promotion at all levels.
I enjoy the fact that if you want to try something new there are always opportunities to get involved.
