We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Head Chef to join our kitchen team to bring the very best dining experience to the West End.
Please note there is a requirement to work full time hours per week over any of the seven days with regular work at evenings and weekends.
Job Description
Job Purpose
To take responsibility for the day to day management of the kitchen and to provide leadership to ensure a memorably excellent menu is consistently delivered.
Main Duties
* Devising and introducing menus (including daily specials) suitable for the operation and capable of being cooked and served in a timely manner from the kitchen
* Advising on pricing so that the menu items produce agreed margins
* Recruiting, training and managing the kitchen team ensuring that everyone knows fully what is expected of them and is performing their role to the best of their ability
* Sourcing ingredients at an appropriate quality and at the best possible prices; ordering items as required
* Ensuring food hygiene, kitchen cleanliness and other health and safety responsibilities are understood and followed by the team at all times
* Setting standards for food preparation and service and ensure that they are met at all times; maintaining portion control standards
* Ensuring wastage is minimised in food preparation and that stock is rotated to avoid unnecessary waste
* Setting flexible staff rosters according to forecast levels of business and within given budgets
* Preparing and cooking food to consistently high standards of preparation and presentation; leading the team whilst on shift
* Liaising with bar staff and the duty manager to communicate delivery times; items out of stock and other information necessary to present a professional service to customers
* Undertaking such administration as is necessary for the jobs requirements to be fully met
* Undertaking and other duties which may be reasonably requested of you by the company for the effective functioning of the kitchen or cinema and to maximise business
