About Gareth

​What is your current role and tell us about your career to date with Cineworld?

I am currently a Cinema Manager at the Llandudno site. I joining the company 20 years ago this year starting off as a Team Member working my way up to Supervisor then Cinema Manager. I have worked in a number of sites including Llandudno, Shrewsbury and Broughton. Throughout my career I have had number of opportunities to further my own development, these include opening seven new cinemas across the country, a trainer for Evacuation Chair and Working at Heights across North Wales and the North West, Regional IT Champion and a Regional Health & Safety Champion for two years in each role supporting up to thirteen cinemas with each area. Finally I was part for the last beMore group in 2019 successfully completing the course and passing the DGM assessment ready for the next step in my career.

What do you enjoy the most about for working for Cineworld?

For me I can honestly say in my twenty year career there has not been a day that I have not wanted to go into work. The most exciting part of the job is you are always meeting new people whether its customers, fellow colleagues or other members of the Cineworld team. No one day in the cinema week is the same so you always have to be ready for a different challenge, you will always be surrounded by the best people who not only can support you but also learn from you. Your cinema team is like one big family, 19 years ago I was trained to serve popcorn by my wife of twelve years! Some of my closest friends are people I have met throughout my career. For me personally I enjoy using my knowledge and experience to develop my team, seeing people that I have supported develop their own careers in Cineworld is the most rewarding part of the job for me.

Why would you encourage people to choose a career with Cineworld?

Like myself a lot of people have joined Cineworld not thinking of it as a career. As soon as you join the team you are you are supported and developed from day one. You go through an excellent online training program with a learning library to support you in everything you need, you have the opportunity to do external qualifications - I have gained two NVQ's in my career. Cineworld is a constantly growing business with new site openings and cinema refurbishments which continually open up opportunities to further your career. Working in different sites allow you to build a strong network of people that are able to support you in so many ways to develop your behaviours and career. As soon as you become part of the team and see the opportunities that are available to you, you will always start looking at the future and your career within the company.
